Growing up in West Africa, most of us inherited a period rulebook full of half-truths. Here are five of the biggest ones — and what actually holds up under a doctor's eyes.
1. Myth: A sanitary pad can be worn all day. Fact: Pads should be changed every 4–6 hours to protect against irritation and bacteria.
2. Myth: Teenagers shouldn't use adult-branded pads. Fact: Faytex is designed to be safe and comfortable from a girl's very first period.
3. Myth: Faytex is only for maternity use. Fact: Faytex serves girls and women across every stage of their menstrual journey.
4. Myth: You can't exercise while on your period. Fact: Most women can — and should — continue their normal activities.
5. Myth: Painful periods are 'just how it is'. Fact: Mild cramps are common, but severe pain deserves a conversation with a healthcare professional.
